We're spreading the word about this fifth Sword and Scepter workshop differently than the first four. This blog is one aspect of that.
I spoke with Todd tonight, and he's moving ahead to book a hall in Berkeley for our first talk on men's power for November 1, 2007 - when successful, we'll fill you in on the location.
In the past we've filled the S&S workshops through word of mouth and personal networks. This time, we'd like to explore sharing some of the ideas with men initially, at the lowest possible cost. Whether or not the men who come want to attend the workshop, we feel they'll get value, and develop an awareness -- and some number of those men might want more. So we're going to work with the newspaper calendars to help get the word out, hopefully contribute to the greater good, and make the workshop available to more men!
I was on Market Street in San Francisco today, where I picked up a couple of the free catalogs from the sidewalk newstands, filled with workshop descriptions...and was pretty turned off by them. I don't understand how people can "promise the world" in a 1-2 hour evening "workshop"... and we want to make sure we're not creating that same dynamic here.
