Well, about 90 Northern California PSFTAlum members
managed to fill the Marines’ U-Haul Trailer with about 10 Santa-sized
bags full of Toys for Tots last night in San Ramon. It was great to be
back in a roomful of PeoplePeople – the lights glowed, the conversation
flowed, developers talked code; it was all gode – I mean, good. Thank
you to everyone who joined us for a wonderful evening and for brightening the lives
of so many children in the area!
I want to thank our event sponsors, Six Dimensions and the PeopleSoft Alumni Network Career Center:
- Six Dimensions provides world-class ERP implementation, integration consulting, and staffing services. Thanks to Tejune Kang, Laurent Harrison, and Vu Chau for their iPod and Starbucks gift card giveaways and for finding contracting opportunities for many of our members. If you’re an ERP implementation consultant or have ERP software at your company, especially PeopleSoft, you’ll want to submit your resume at www.six-dimensions.com or contact them regarding expert PeopleSoft resources.
- The PeopleSoft Alumni Network Career Center also
funded the event and our first batch of “The PeopleSoft Spirit Lives
On” T-shirts, designed by the very talented Carol Reynoso-Hackett.
Thanks to all our members for bringing the Job Board to the attention
of your company HR departments and for supporting the group by posting
jobs and resumes at the Career Center.
Of
course, this event would not have been possible without our fantastic
events team. Myloc Le, who has been our wonderful events chair these
last two years, once again did an outstanding job last night. Thanks
also to the A-team of Heidi Kenniston-Lee, Kari Balderston, Josh Neil
and Tracy Vaeth. Please join me in supporting our volunteers, who are
also entrepreneurs with their own businesses:
- If your company has not managed to get its customer gifts organized, new cool logo wear for the staff, or tchochkes for that upcoming trade show, Myloc should be first on your list, at LeLine Marketing, www.lelinemarketing.com . Myloc used her connections to get us a sweet deal on the T-shirts, so that good karma will no doubt to flow back to her! She has been a fabulous, dependable partner since our first event in November 2004, and I hope you’ll join me in enticing her to stay by sending more of our members’ business her way!
- I’m delighted to announce Heidi Kenniston-Lee is stepping into the Events Chairperson position for Myloc, taking over our events chair. We’re lucky because she actually has tremendous skills in this area – her young firm, Events with Heart (www.eventswithheart.com), helps organizations plan and manage events with a distinctive and very cool community service element, leveraging her background in the community relations department at PeopleSoft. For example, Heidi had the connections at El Balazo and had the vision to connect us up with the Toys for Tots program. Anyone who can pick up the phone and have the Marines show up in a heartbeat I want on my team!
Finally,
it’s the holidays and we want to do what we can to help those in need
in the communities around us. If your company has been running too
hard to organize its Toys for Tots drive, Food Bank drive, or similar
community service and would really like some assistance, please give
Heidi a call.
Thanks to everyone for a great start to the holiday season!
Steve Tennant
