The local San Francisco East Bay Angel Investor group, the Keiretsu Forum, is opening up a new chapter in the Silicon Valley. Randy Williams is kicking off the inaugural meeting on Friday, October 15th, and as a testament to the success of the East Bay chapter and six other chapters across the U.S. and Canada, this first meeting's already sold out.
Mark Calvey at the San Francisco Business Times offers a good perspective (free registration required) on creating a the new chapter now - could it be a sign that private equity investors who have ridden out the downturn feel like it's time to get back in? As a software marketing consultant, I tend to agree with the timing based on a recent uptick in activity. Maybe the downturn is turning up?
I'll see you there Friday if you're planning to attend.
